1. Will we have to take the GRE as a part of UNT's
application process?
Yes, you can take the GRE or the Miller's Analogy
Test as a part of the UNT application process.
2. What is the grant's
financial obligation?
The grant will pay for tuition, books, fees and conference
registration. The conference registration also includes payment travel and
lodging for the Texas Library Association Conference and the Texas Computer
Educator's Association.
3. How long does the
grant last?
The grant is for three years January 2007 - August
2010.
4. What is the advantage of having an MLS?
The advantage of having an MLS is a long-range career plan. With an MLS,
your certification is accepted in all states. You are also able to work
in every type of library (public, academic, specialized). You will be among
the elite in the profession.
5. What is the financial commitment for school principals?
Each building principal is asked to commit to paying
$2,628 over the three year period. These funds will be earmarked in each
schools' budget by the HISD Budget Department for this grant.
6. If I am accepted into the program, start the classes
and for some reason I have to drop out, will I have to pay the money back?
Yes, you will have to pay the money that was spent
for your tuition, fees and books at UNT.
7. When I complete my masters, am I obligated to
HISD in any way?
Upon completion of your master's degree, you must
remain with HISD for a minimum of three years. So you are actually committing
to 6 years.
